Andrew P. Kates is an experienced litigation attorney focusing his practice on complex commercial and product liability litigation. Mr. Kates is experienced in all aspects of civil litigation from inception to completion, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in cases throughout the state of New York. His caseload has included drafting pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, negotiating settlement of cases, mediation, court appearances, and extensive legal research. Prior to joining Segal McCambridge, Mr. Kates worked as an associate attorney at a litigation-focused firm in Garden City, New York.
Mr. Kates earned his Juris Doctor degree cum laude from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, where he received Dean's List honors and won three CALI Awards. He also holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Hofstra University's Frank G. Zarb School of Business. He is licensed to practice in New York and in the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
