For more than a decade, attorney Benjamin Careathers has defended companies, insurers, businesses, and property owners facing asbestos and other toxic tort and hazardous substances claims. He is experienced with nearly every level of the litigation process, and has helped devise and implement the strategy for several high-profile cases. In addition to his toxic tort defense work, Mr. Careathers has also represented clients in general liability matters including automotive product liability and medical malpractice.
A native New Yorker, Mr. Careathers was interested in practicing law at a young age. He worked as a paralegal while in undergrad and continued up until entering law school. During law school, Mr. Careathers worked in entertainment law, gaining experience negotiating contracts for sports and music clients. Since law school, in addition to the above, he has represented clients in matters including real estate, finance, contracts, and more.
Mr. Careathers makes an effort to spend time volunteering for a variety of organizations, making use of his education, experience, or simply lending an able hand. Through groups including inMotion and HOPE, Mr. Careathers provides pro bono counsel to individuals in need of legal representation. He is also a passionate advocate for animals and has worked, volunteered and supported animal shelters and reserves in the United States and abroad, including spending time at an elephant sanctuary in Thailand.
