Evan D. Powell is an associate attorney focusing his practice on toxic tort litigation. Before joining Segal McCambridge, Mr. Powell worked as an assistant state’s attorney for Cook County. While there, he worked in several different divisions where he gained experience prosecuting misdemeanor offenses, litigating jury and bench trials to verdict, researching and responding to pre and post-trial motions and appellate briefs, and petitioning for civil orders of protection.
Mr. Powell also has experience as a plaintiff attorney at a personal injury firm in Chicago. During this time, he negotiated with hospitals, doctors and physical therapists to reduce medical bills in order to maximize client payouts, drafted pleadings, interrogatories and responses to interrogatories, appeared in court for status dates, and represented clients at binding arbitration hearings.
Mr. Powell attended DePaul University College of Law, graduating cum laude. He was a two-time CALI Award recipient receiving the highest grade in Evidence and Criminal Juvenile Justice and was awarded the Chancellor’s Award for Service for volunteering more than 100 hours in public service. Before attending law school, he received his B.A. in Marketing and Management at the University of West Georgia.
