Mari Bryn Dowdy defends companies of varying sizes in commercial and tort litigation, including construction defect, product liability, toxic tort and catastrophic personal injury matters, as well as individuals in sports law related claims. She manages the national coordinating defense of multinational equipment manufacturers and serves as local Texas counsel for companies involved in mass tort litigation and construction defect claims. She has extensive experience in all stages of litigation from initial analysis and pre-trial workup through trial and has obtained summary judgment and voluntary dismissals for national and local clients in a variety of specialties. Based on her experience, Mari Bryn is adept at counseling clients through high-stakes litigation while managing complex claims in both federal and state courts.

Additionally, Mari Bryn counsels clients involved with the U.S. Center for SafeSport, an organization established by Congress to address sexual abuse, bullying and other misconduct, and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Movements, and has advised clients through grievance proceedings before various U.S. National Governing Bodies and local sports organizations.

Mari Bryn serves as co-chair of the firm’s Construction Litigation & Counseling practice group and is an active member of the firm’s Sports & Recreation practice group. Additionally, she is a member of the Steering Committee for Forward Together program, the firm’s women’s initiative to promote equity, diversity and inclusion through education, mentorship and networking. She also serves as the Director of Education for the Board of Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM)’s Austin Chapter.

Prior to joining Segal McCambridge, Mari Bryn worked as an associate at an insurance defense firm in Houston.

She earned her J.D. from Baylor Law School. During law school, she was a member of the National Civil Trial Competition Team, National Trial Competition Team and the ABA National Appellate Moot Court Team. She was named to both the Order of Barristers and the dean’s list. She holds a B.A. with honors in sports management from The University of Texas.

Outside of work, Mari Bryn enjoys spending time with her husband and dog exploring Austin’s hiking trails, greenbelts, lakes and parks. She also enjoys traveling, supporting local restaurants and food trucks, and cheering on the Texas Longhorns.
