Sarah Plaisance is an associate attorney in the firm’s Austin office focusing her practice on the defense of first-party insurance cases related to both casualty and property claims and bad faith litigation. Ms. Plaisance has extensive experience representing first-party insurers in breach of contract and bad faith actions related to storms and catastrophic events. She also has extensive experience conducting and defending depositions, representing clients in mediation, negotiating settlement agreements, collecting legal research, drafting and arguing procedural and dispositive motions and preparing matters for trial.
Prior to joining Segal McCambridge, Ms. Plaisance worked as an associate at an insurance defense litigation firm and a general litigation firm defending individuals, employees and various Texas businesses and business owners against general liability claims, first-party insurers in storm damage claims and uninsured/underinsured motorist cases, third-party insureds in automobile accidents, as well as representing numerous property management companies in lawsuits involving premises liability claims. She also served as a clerk for the Travis County Attorney's Office – civil litigation division. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Ms. Plaisance clerked for a criminal defense attorney in San Antonio, Texas.
She earned her Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law – Houston, where she worked in the Actual Innocence and Domestic Violence Clinics, as well as for Lone Star Legal Aid in the consumer protection division. Ms. Plaisance holds a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in professional writing and a minor in legal studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she attended the Summer Law School Preparation Academy.
Outside of her work in the legal arena, Ms. Plaisance is interested in spending time outdoors with her dog Theo, hiking, boxing, playing volleyball and watching baseball.
