Sean Phillips is a trial attorney focusing his practice on defending product manufacturer clients in toxic tort litigation. He manages the asbestos litigation of several large manufacturers, and in that capacity, he directs the client’s overall litigation strategy and identifies unique defenses for each client. He also serves on the National Coordinating Counsel team for a product manufacturer and oversees the defense of this client among the various jurisdictions in which it is sued. Mr. Phillips has experience in various stages of litigation and is well-versed in drafting pre-trial motions, deposing witnesses, conducting extensive research, and assisting in discovery and trial preparation.

Mr. Phillips is passionate about serving the underprivileged and spends a significant amount of time working on pro bono cases. Mr. Phillips was recently successful in winning a contested Order of Protection hearing for a client from a women’s shelter. He is also involved with representing a convicted minor in a resentencing hearing based on the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Miller vs. Alabama; finding that mandatory life sentencing of minors is unconstitutional. Mr. Phillips has additional experience volunteering with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, serving as Guardian Ad Litem for several minor guardianship cases.

Mr. Phillips earned his J.D. with a concentration in health law from St. Louis University School of Law in 2014. He was the recipient of the Public Interest Law Initiative Fellowship and the Dagen Fellowship through Saint Louis University. While in law school, he was involved in the Health Law Association, SLU Cancer Support Group and SLU Mentor program. He has also worked with the Saint Louis University Elder Law Clinic.

Outside of work, Mr. Phillips is interested in golf, basketball, running and is an avid traveler. As co-founder and board member of the Mickey’s Children’s Fund, he actively helps to provide scholarships to underprivileged children, giving them the opportunity to attend a top rated pre-school in the Chicagoland area. Additionally, Mr. Phillips is a regular volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen.
