Sebastian P. Melo-Ortiz is an associate attorney in the firm’s New York City office focusing his practice on toxic tort litigation and technology and cyber risk. He has extensive experience conducting depositions, daily motions and conference appearances, drafting pleadings, motions and discovery-related materials, and has counseled clients at all stages of litigation. Mr. Melo-Ortiz is a member of the firm's Diversity & Inclusion Committee.
Before joining Segal McCambridge, Mr. Melo-Ortiz worked as the managing attorney of a boutique firm in Brooklyn. While there, he oversaw the defense of all actions pending in the New York Supreme Courts, managed the defense of no-fault declaratory judgement actions, engaged in settlement negotiations and assisted in the defense of Federal Civil Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act actions.
Mr. Melo-Ortiz received his Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law in 2013. While in law school, he served as the Notes and Articles Editor for the Intellectual Property, Media and Entertainment Law Journal, Volume XXIII. He previously attended Fordham University, Gabelli School of Business, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Accounting.
