Segal McCambridge will sponsor the Chicago Legal Clinic's awards banquet, to be held on Friday, May 16, 2008 at The Hilton Chicago.
The Chicago Legal Clinic is a not-for-profit organization that provides legal services and education to the underserved and disadvantaged in the Chicago area. Each year, more than 13,000 clients receive direct service in matters ranging from domestic violence to housing to guardianships of the disabled. The Clinic operates a downtown and three neighborhood offices as well as a Foreclosure Advice Desk and Child Support Advice Desk at local courthouses.
Each year, the Clinic hosts an awards dinner to recognize those who have made outstanding efforts to make the legal system available to the poor. This fundraising event has become a tradition in Chicago's legal community in part because of the Clinic's outstanding reputation of service to the poor and in part because the Senior Judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit, the Honorable William J. Bauer, has been Master of Ceremonies for many years. The President of the Chicago Bar Association annually serves as the Presenter of Awards.
