Segal McCambridge Chicago Grows Toxic Tort and Medical Malpractice Teams With 11 New Associates in Chicago

CHICAGO, IL–Segal McCambridge Singer & Mahoney is pleased to announce that 11 new associates have joined its Chicago office in the past quarter. Focusing their practices on toxic tort and medical malpractice, these associates bring a high level of knowledge and experience to the growing firm.

The new associates include Russel Baker, Shane Bradwell, Joseph Falk, Sarah Flohr, Joy Johns, Kellie Mazzarella, Benjamin Nellans, Samantha Odyniec, Keith Rahman, Ivan Settimba, and Patrick Sullivan.

Russell Baker is an associate attorney focusing his practice on toxic tort and complex commercial litigation. Prior to joining Segal McCambridge, Mr. Baker worked as an associate attorney defending Fortune 500 companies for a litigation firm in Edwardsville, IL. Having earned his J.D. from St. Louis University, he is an Eagle Scout and co-chair of the social committee for the Red Shoe Society, an organization that raises funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Shane Bradwell focuses his practice on medical malpractice defense. Prior to joining Segal McCambridge, Mr. Bradwell  worked as an associate attorney at a litigation firm in Chicago, where he managed and acted as second chair in complex civil litigation cases involving medical malpractice, product liability, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and commercial disputes. He earned his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.

Joseph Falk is an associate attorney focusing his practice in toxic tort and complex commercial litigation. Prior to joining Segal McCambridge, he was an associate attorney for a litigation firm in Chicago, where he represented clients in medical malpractice, products liability and construction cases. He holds a J.D. from DePaul University and is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.

Sarah Flohr works in toxic tort and complex commercial litigation. Prior to joining Segal McCambridge, she worked as an associate attorney at a law firm in Chicago. She also previously worked as a paralegal in New York and as an intern for the U.S. Senate Sargent at Arms. Ms. Flohr earned her J.D. from The John Marshall Law School, where she was lead articles editor for The John Marshall Law Review and a member of the Moot Court Honors Council.

Joy Johns  primarily focuses on Segal McCambridge’s toxic tort litigation work. Prior to joining Segal McCambridge, Ms. Johns worked as an Assistant State's Attorney at the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, where she tried misdemeanor and felony cases ranging from drug and gun charges to violent crimes. Ms. Johns received the Exceptional Law Clerk C.F. Stradford Award while working at the State’s Attorney’s office. She earned her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.

Kellie L. Mazzarella is an associate attorney focusing her practice on toxic tort and complex commercial litigation. Prior to joining Segal McCambridge, Ms. Mazzarella worked as an associate attorney defending medical malpractice cases at a Chicago law firm. She also served as a judicial extern for Judge William Bauer at the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman at the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. She earned her J.D. from The John Marshall Law School, where she graduated in the top 7% of her class.

Benjamin J. Nellans works in toxic tort and complex commercial litigation. Prior to joining Segal McCambridge, he worked as an attorney at a commercial litigation firm in Chicago. He has also served as a licensed legal intern in the Lake County State's Attorney's Office and as a legal intern at The Center for Economic Progress. Mr. Nellans earned his J.D., cum laude, from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law.

Samantha M. Odyniec focuses her practice on toxic tort litigation. Before joining Segal McCambridge, Ms. Odyniec worked as an attorney at a litigation firm in Chicago. Sheearned her J.D., cum laude, from DePaul University College of Law, where she received CALI awards in Legal Analysis, Research and Communication III,  and Legal Profession. She won several honors for her competition in Moot Court and received the Helen F. McGillicuddy Scholarship for her writing.

Keith Rahman is an associate attorney focusing his practice on toxic tort and complex commercial litigation. Mr. Rahman has experience as first chair at trial, provided representation at contested hearings regarding child custody and support, and negotiated and finalized settlements agreements in family law matters. Prior to joining Segal McCambridge, Mr. Rahman worked as a general practice attorney in a law office in Ferdinand, Indiana. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Indiana University.

Ivan Settimba is an associate attorney focusing his practice on toxic tort and complex commercial litigation. He has extensive experience in all stages of litigation.. Prior to joining Segal McCambridge, Mr. Settimba worked as an associate attorney at an employment law firm in Chicago. Mr. Settimba earned his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where he earned dean's list honors and certificates in both Trial Advocacy and Health Law. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Settimba worked as a Scientific Associate at the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation in La Jolla, California.

Patrick Sullivan focuses his practice on the litigation of toxic tort and complex commercial matters. Prior to joining Segal McCambridge, he worked as an insurance defense attorney at a law firm in Chicago.  He has also served as a law extern for the Circuit Court of Cook County and a law intern for the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. Mr. Sullivan earned his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School, where he received Dean's List honors and a Distinguished Scholarship.
