J.R. Skrabanek focuses his practice on personal injury, products liability defense, labor and employment, and construction defects. He has experience defending individuals and businesses in civil litigation, including contract, tort, civil rights, and employment matters.

Prior to joining Segal McCambridge, Mr. Skrabanek served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas, where he successfully tried numerous cases to verdict and garnered a substantial amount of experience in both federal and state courts across Texas. A native Texan, Mr. Skrabanek is familiar with how to litigate claims efficiently and effectively in both trial and appellate courts.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS

  • Utilities Optimization Group, L.L.C. v. TIN, Inc., d/b/a Temple-Inland, Case No. 10-40471 (United States Court of Appeals for Fifth Circuit, August 8, 2011). Assisted in appellate briefing on the reversal of an adverse jury verdict in a commercial contract dispute with over $250,000 at stake.
  • Successfully defeated an employment discrimination claim filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission by showing the claimant was terminated for poor job performance, not due to an alleged disability.
  • Achieved favorable jury verdicts in four separate civil rights lawsuits filed in federal courts against employees of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
