Diversity
Mission Statement
At Segal McCambridge, we strive to increasingly diversify our workplace. We believe that, in order to best represent the interests of our clients who also come from different cultures, backgrounds, lifestyles, belief systems and values, we should hire, develop, retain and promote attorneys and staff from various backgrounds. We further believe that diversity in the workplace encompasses a firm culture that recognizes, appreciates and embraces the differences in each of our experiences and view points.
Diversity Committee
The Diversity Committee is represented by members from several of our offices, including the following:
- Cameron Turner (Chicago office/Chair)
- William Mahoney (Chicago office)
- Keya Rajput Milla (Chicago Office)
- Arturo Aviles (Austin office)
- Tomachukwu Acholonu (New York office)
- Megan Grossman (Philadelphia office)
The Diversity Committee meets monthly to monitor and discuss the implementation of policies that address the issues of recruiting, retaining and promoting qualified attorneys in all offices with the goal of increasing the diversity of the firm. The Diversity Committee also ensures policies are implemented and actively promoted throughout the firm, which include increased participation in community involvement, attorney development and pro bono work. The Diversity Committee also concentrates on proactively searching for new opportunities and approaches to promoting diversity within the firm.

Diversity Committee Engages Comedian Aaron Freeman To Address the Firm
On Wednesday, October 7, 2009, Aaron Freeman, comedian, journalist and radio personality, will present to the firm an address titled, "Almost Everything We Believe Is Wrong, Thank Goodness."
From his personal perspective as an observant Jewish African American who converted from Catholicism, Aaron has a unique perspective on the world, and will share with us his vast-ranging experiences over the years. Aaron has performed comedy on four continents in five languages and is a member of the internationally acclaimed "Israeli/Palestinian Comedy Tour."
Aaron has learned that, contrary to what we generally are led to believe, ours is the kindest, most humane and open-hearted generation in history and getting better every day. His work as a performer is based on the conviction that comedy is a way of looking at life that makes happy endings seem inevitable.
This event is open to the entire firm. Aaron will speak in our Chicago offices, and will be carried live via videoconference to our other locations. Clients of the firm are invited to attend, as space allows. If you are interested in attending, please contact Liz Georgelos at 312.645.4592.
