Pro Bono And Public Service
The obligation to the community we feel our lawyers have is broader than just the legal work we do. Segal McCambridge attorneys have a professional responsibility to contribute their time, skill and resources to provide legal services to those who do not have access to attorneys or otherwise cannot afford legal representation. Segal McCambridge’s Pro Bono & Public Service Committee’s (PBPSC) mission is to encourage, support, facilitate and recognize our attorneys in their endeavors to serve their communities through pro bono legal work.
In furtherance of this mission, the PBPSC provides training and practice support, information about pro bono opportunities, and other relevant information and resources to encourage our attorneys to provide pro bono services to those less fortunate. The PBPSC also endeavors to foster longstanding relationships with pro bono and public service agencies in the communities surrounding each office to benefit the pubic, the firm and the organization. The PBPSC also encourages attorneys to contribute time to community service projects that might not fit the definition of legal pro bono work, but are nonetheless important to our society.
Pro Bono and Public Service Committee
The Pro Bono & Public Service Committee is charged with promoting the firm's pro bono efforts and increasing our commitment to pro bono and community service. The PBPSC meets monthly and establishes community service policies on a firm-wide basis. The PBPSC is composed of members from several of our offices, including the following:
- Chair: Paul Wojcicki

- Senior Mentor: Don Segal

Sara Woods, Executive Director of VIP Philadelphia, a non-profit pro bono organization that places pro bono cases with local law firms, made a presentation to our Philadelphia attorneys. VIP is the oldest pro bono organization in Philadelphia. The presentation focused on the types of pro bono services it offers and the cases it receives. Following the presentation, Philadelphia attorneys completed VIP Volunteer Registration forms. VIP circulates a monthly case list, on which Philadelphia attorneys will now be included, and from which attorneys can pick pro bono cases to handle. Philadelphia attorneys are being encouraged to review this case list and pick at least one case a year to handle.
