Public Official Liability

Public officials, officers, and employees and the governmental units for whom they work are frequent targets of litigation. The decisions made and actions taken by police officers, elected officials, trustees, superintendents, municipal administrators and other public servants are often challenged as an abuse of governmental authority that deprives the plaintiff of some constitutional or statutorily-protected right, or as a governmental failure to measure up to some relevant legal standard of care. Lawsuits against public officials alleging injuries caused by the faulty design, condition or maintenance of parks, buildings, roadways, walkways, projects and other public property are also not uncommon.

Segal McCambridge has extensive experience in representing governmental officials and entities and successfully defending against all manners of governmental liability claims brought in both federal and state forums.
